It is imperative that programs be able to demonstrate their effectiveness to funders which is why funders require an evaluation component in their grant proposals. The evaluation component usually counts for 10-15% of the proposal's score. It is an important part of your grant proposal since it helps funders determine whether or not your project is a sound investment for them.
Programs need to specify a start-up time for their evaluation, and, ideally, the evaluation design should start at the beginning of a project. The Catalog of Domestic Assistance says that this is practical because: convincing evaluations require the collection of appropriate data before and during program operations; and, if the evaluation design cannot be prepared at the outset, then a critical review of the program design may be advisable.
We have extensive experience in designing evaluations for grant proposals. Among other things, the staff at ERI will:
Design an evaluation that meets your program's and the funder's needs;
Do a
pilot study, if necessary, and a thorough literature review; and
Write the evaluation section of your proposal.
The evaluation plan itself will outline such things as how your project will propose to:
Evaluate
accomplishment of goals and objectives;
Implement research design;
Describe the data collection method;
Analyze
data; and
Use
evaluation findings for program optimization.
